Enormous Stunning Red Blooms All Summer Long

Enjoy continuous fire engine red flowers for months with the Summerific® ‘Valentine’s Crush’ Hibiscus! The massive, eye-catching blooms of this plant are the size of dinner plates, measuring 7-8” across. Each is accented with a deep purple eye and set against dramatic dark green foliage.

Pollinators can’t get enough of Valentine’s Crush! You’ll be amazed at all the bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds that will flock to this cold-hardy, upright perennial shrub. No need to worry about deer, though, as they tend to leave these Hibiscus alone.

Valentine’s Crush fits perfectly in any landscape, bed, or border. It also thrives when planted in a container and placed in a spot with plenty of sun. The vivid red hues will brighten any location, inside or out, and are guaranteed to attract attention. Grow yours today!

Planting & Care

1. Planting: To achieve the best results, plant Hibiscus in your garden before the intense summer heat arrives. Hibiscus thrive in bright, sunny environments, so it’s important to ensure they receive at least 4 to 6 hours of sunlight each day.

Once you’ve selected your spot, dig a hole large enough to accommodate your shrub’s root ball. If you’re planting in a container, select a pot that’s about twice the width of your shrub’s shipped container. Use organic soil, place your shrub, and put it in a sunny spot.

If your Hibiscus is container-planted in a colder climate, bring it inside for the winter when the temperature starts to drop.

2. Watering: Hibiscus need moderate watering to thrive and yield larger flowers and lush foliage. Water your plant once or twice weekly. If you’re not sure when to water, check your shrub’s soil about 2 or 3 inches down for dryness.

3. Fertilizing: For best blooming results, fertilize regularly using a low-phosphorus fertilizer every two weeks throughout the growing season.

4. Pruning: Deadheading will enhance the appearance of the plant, but it is not essential for ongoing blooming. In spring, prune any leftover stems before new growth begins. Avoid trimming in the fall.
