Planting & Care

Planting: Dig a hole two to three times wider than the tree pot and the same depth as the container. Loosen the tree’s roots by tapping the pot, keeping the soil around the roots intact. If the roots are tangled, cut an X across the bottom of the rootball and score the sides. Set the tree in the middle of the hole at ground level. Firmly pack the hole with soil and water the tree. Do not add soil amendments or fertilizer yet. Ensure the soil is well-drained. Spread 2-3 inches of mulch around the base of your tree, but avoid the trunk.

Watering: Keeping your tree watered in the first year is crucial. Ensure the soil and mulch remain moist but not waterlogged. Avoid overwatering to prevent standing water.

Fertilizing: Lightly fertilize every two weeks throughout the spring and summer months to promote optimal new growth.

Pruning: You can prune in late winter to contain the tree’s shape while promoting growth for the blooming season.
