Cold-Hardy Rhododendron with Year-Round Glossy Foliage

Holden’s™ Peach Hybrid Rhododendron boasts luminous blooms showcasing a sunset spectrum of pale orange, creamy yellow, and blush-pink hues. These floral bursts emerge from colorful buds that offer winter interest long before the spring show begins.

Unlike leggier varieties, Holden’s™ Peach has a dense, mounding form with rich, leathery foliage that stays glossy and vibrant year-round. It sets buds at a young age, giving you color sooner than expected, and forms a broad, low silhouette that anchors garden beds, woodland edges, or shady foundation plantings. A compact evergreen with a standout spring color, it works equally well in large groupings or as a single garden highlight.

This variety was even developed and rigorously tested for resistance to Phytophthora cinnamomi, also known as root rot or “cinnamon fungus.” It’s hardy to Zone 5a, making it a resilient and reliable performer in cooler climates where other Rhododendrons might struggle.

From mixed borders to shady retreats, Holden’s™ Peach Rhododendron adds season-spanning beauty to your landscape. Grow yours today!

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Choose a location with partial shade (especially in hotter climates) and well-drained, acidic soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and plant so the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding soil. Backfill and water thoroughly. Add mulch around the base to retain moisture and insulate roots.

2. Watering: Keep soil evenly moist, especially during the first year. Avoid soggy conditions. Rhododendrons have shallow roots, so consistent watering in dry spells is important, particularly during bloom season.

3. Fertilizing: Fertilize in early spring with a slow-release, acid-loving plant fertilizer. Avoid overfeeding, which can damage roots and limit bloom production.

4. Pruning: Minimal pruning is needed. Remove spent blooms after flowering to encourage next year’s buds, and lightly shape the plant in late spring if desired.
