Planting & Care
1. Planting: Plant in an area where it can receive full to partial sunlight, or 6 to 8 hours each day and well-draining soil. Allow enough space between other trees, plants, or structures, and without too much shade. This tree is adaptable to a wide range of soil types.
2. Watering: For the first year after planting, water 1-3 inches of water every week, unless rainfall is consistent. Deep watering allows for the development of the roots. Once established, this tree is moderately drought-tolerant.
3. Fertilizing: Apply a balanced fertilizer in the spring to promote healthy growth. Don’t apply fertilizer later than mid-July, as this will stimulate new growth late in the season.
4. Pruning: Prune as needed to maintain the desired height and shape of your hedge. Annual or semi-annual pruning may be necessary.
